Prl stands for prolactin, a polypeptide hormone secreted by anterior pituitary eosinophils. Prolactin is a peptide hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary eosinophilic cells, and its main role is to promote the development and growth of the mammary glands, to stimulate and maintain their lactation, and to stimulate the production of follicular luteinizing hormone receptors.
