What hormone does Prl stand for?

Prl stands for prolactin, a polypeptide hormone secreted by anterior pituitary eosinophils. Prolactin is a peptide hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary eosinophilic cells, and its main role is to promote the development and growth of the mammary glands, to stimulate and maintain their lactation, and to stimulate the production of follicular luteinizing hormone receptors. Prolactin is elevated by: ① physiological increase: seen after exercise, sexual intercourse, pregnancy, suckling, etc.; ② pharmacological increase: seen in the use of tricyclic antidepressants, etc.; ③ pathologic increase: seen in prolactinoma, pituitary stalk blockade syndrome and other diseases. When patients find prolactin abnormality, they should go to regular hospitals in time, investigate the cause of the disease, and actively treat it to avoid delaying the condition.
