How to Treat Acid Reflux with Chinese Herbal Medicine

Acid reflux belongs to the category of acid reflux in Chinese medicine, and can be treated by taking Zuo Jin Wan and Xiang Sha Liu Jun Zi Tang. Liver and stomach depression and heat syndrome is characterized by acid reflux, belching of putrid gas, stuffiness and distension of the stomach and epigastric region, fullness of both hypochondriums, choking and coughing, irritability, dry mouth and bitterness, and dry pharynx and thirst. Treatment can be Zuo Jin Wan, composed of Huang Lian and Wu Zhu Zhu. Yang deficiency of the spleen and stomach manifests as acid vomiting, belching (hiccup), sour and rotten, distension of the chest and epigastric region, salivation, hot food and drink, warmth of the limbs, and loose stools. Treatment can be with Xiangsha Six Gentlemen Tang, which consists of ginseng, atractylodes, poria, licorice, tangerine peel, half-summer, radix et rhizoma salicariae, and aromatic herbs. The adverse effects and contraindications of the above drugs are not clear.
