Normal adult plasma protein level is 65-85g/L, of which albumin is 40-48g/L and globulin is 15-30g/L. The patient’s protein of 6.9g/L belongs to the severe low level, in which case the patient needs to be corrected by albumin infusion, and the cause of the protein low level should be identified as soon as possible and treated in a timely manner.
Causes of low protein include prolonged protein deficiency, poor digestion and absorption caused by chronic gastrointestinal diseases, renal diseases such as nephrotic syndrome, and severe wasting diseases such as hyperthyroidism, malignant tumors, or severe tuberculosis, etc., which can all lead to a decrease in serum protein.
Patients are advised to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
