Infants with indications can take Oseltamivir and should take the medication as prescribed. Oseltamivir is commonly available in granules and capsules with anti-influenza viral effects, and the instructions state that it is intended for use in the treatment of influenza A and influenza B in people 1 year of age and older. However, the Influenza Clinical Guidelines also state the dosage for use in infants under 1 year of age, so infants for whom indications exist can take oseltamivir. Adverse reactions seen with oseltamivir include bronchitis, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, malaise, epistaxis (nosebleed), earache, and conjunctivitis. The drug is contraindicated in people who are allergic to any component of Oseltamivir. The drug should be used rationally under the supervision of a doctor to avoid adverse consequences.
