Positive syphilis indicators but no symptoms may be hidden syphilis patients, serofixed patients, etc.. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by infection with the pale syphilis spirochete, which is mainly transmitted through sexual contact. 1. Recessive syphilis patients: positive syphilis indicators without any physical symptoms may be recessive syphilis. A patient with latent syphilis may have had unsafe sex, history of multiple sex partners or sexually transmitted infections, history of blood transfusion, etc. in the past 2 years, or the patient may have had the disease for more than 2 years or may not be able to determine the duration of his/her disease. 2. Serofixation: After syphilis patients have undergone sufficient amount of standardized anti-syphilis treatment and adequate follow-up, the titer of non-syphilis spirochete serological test is maintained at a certain level for a long time, and reinfection, neurosyphilis, cardiovascular syphilis and other conditions are ruled out, positive syphilis-related indexes may appear, but there is no clinical symptomatic phenomenon. In addition, a positive syphilis test without symptoms may also be caused by other reasons, such as certain autoimmune diseases, which may also show a false-positive non-syphilis serologic test without symptoms of syphilis. It is recommended that patients with positive syphilis indicators but no clinical symptoms actively seek medical attention to identify the cause and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment.
