Can you walk after a broken toe with a steel nail?

A steel nail is placed as an internal fixation after a toe fracture and is not allowed to walk after surgery. The purpose of a steel nail after toe fracture is not to allow the toe to walk with weight on the ground, but to securely fix the fractured part of the toe in a good position. Surgery is required because of the poor position of the toe fracture, and the main purpose of surgery is to use the nail as an internal fixation to restore good anatomical alignment of the fracture while allowing the fracture to heal in a stress-free environment. However, this does not mean that you can walk on the ground after the nail is placed in the toe, as the fracture site has to bear a lot of shear force when walking. If the force is high, the nail will be deformed, loosened or even broken, so you cannot walk after the nail is placed in the toe fracture.
