Clinical manifestations of toe fractures

Toe fractures are mostly caused by smash injuries, or by external violent injuries such as traffic accidents. The following clinical manifestations and signs can be seen in toe fractures: i. Pain, there can be significant pain at the injury site, especially in the acute phase. Swelling and bruising, due to bleeding after the toe fracture and damage to the surrounding soft tissues, there will be significant swelling at the fracture site, and subcutaneous bruising can be seen, which is caused by the bleeding from the fracture site penetrating into the subcutis. If the fracture is not heavily displaced or is only a linear fracture, it only needs to be fixed in a cast or brace for 4-6 weeks and functional exercise can be performed. If the fracture is heavily displaced or comminuted, surgery is required.
