Can a liver cancer patient’s foot swelling recur after it goes down?

There is a possibility that the swollen feet of patients with advanced liver cancer may recur after the swelling has disappeared. Generally, patients with advanced liver cancer have serious hypoproteinemia, and the water in the body will penetrate into the tissue interstitial space, resulting in tissue interstitial edema, which may not only cause swelling of feet, but also swelling of the whole body. If the patient with advanced liver cancer has obstruction of venous return due to portal vein embolism or tumor compression of inferior vena cava, it may also cause lower limb edema. If the edema is caused by hypoalbuminemia, the doctor will usually give the patient albumin treatment and strengthen nutritional support, supplemented with diuretics if necessary; if the vena cava is obstructed, it should be decided according to the specific situation of the patient whether the obstructing factors can be removed or whether the patient can be treated with local radiotherapy. At the same time, patients should pay attention to the proper elevation of the lower limbs, wearing soft and loose clothing, avoiding skin trauma. When patients find that their feet are swollen again, they should go to the hospital to find out the cause and take active treatment.
