What is spleen and kidney deficiency?

As the name suggests, spleen-kidney deficiency is a TCM term that refers to the clinical symptoms of deficiency in both the spleen and kidney organs. If the spleen is deficient, there will be deficiency of middle qi, lack of qi and blood production, lack of source, pale and yellow face, or dizziness, easy sweating, shortage of qi, poor or little food, or abdominal distension, prolonged diarrhea, prolonged defecation, and also distention and fullness of the abdomen and stomach, erratic and anorexia due to dietary stagnation. Spleen Yang deficiency will result in loss of transportation and transformation, inability to raise and clear the body, intestinal tinnitus, dullness, diarrhea, or yellowing of the face, weakness of the limbs, etc. Kidney Yin deficiency may cause dizziness and tinnitus, seminal emission, premature ejaculation, afternoon hot flashes, and irritable heat in the five hearts, while Kidney Yang deficiency may cause cold hands and feet, swollen limbs, less urination, less food and loose stools, and decreased physical strength.
