Snoring, or snoring, can be simple snoring or a common symptom of obstructive sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome. Treatment methods should be chosen according to different causes, including general treatment, causative treatment, non-invasive positive pressure ventilation, oral appliances and surgical treatment. The efficacy of each method varies from person to person, and should be chosen after judgment by a specialist.
1. General treatment: Mainly through weight control, changing sleeping position, quitting smoking and alcohol, and reducing the application of sedative-hypnotic and muscle relaxant to alleviate the symptoms.
2. Anti-causal treatment: Correct the underlying diseases that cause or aggravate obstructive sleep apnea hypoventilation syndrome, such as applying omeprazole to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease.
3. Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation: mainly used for patients who are unwilling or unsuitable for surgical treatment, as well as perioperative treatment.
4. Oral appliance treatment: commonly used in patients with simple snoring and patients who do not tolerate non-invasive positive pressure ventilation, as well as patients with mild or moderate obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
5. Surgical treatment: only applicable to patients with anatomical abnormalities of the upper airway that can be relieved by surgery, such as nasal septum deviation can be treated by nasal septum correction, nasal polyp can be treated by nasal polypectomy, tonsil hyperplasia and hypertrophy obstructing the airway can be treated by tonsillectomy.
When snoring occurs, it is recommended to consult the hospital, improve the relevant examination, through the standardized medical intervention to control the disease and improve the symptoms. Specific methods and medication need to follow the doctor’s instructions.
