Rehabilitation after knee fracture

Rehabilitation training after fracture can generally be divided into three stages according to the period of fracture healing: early, middle and late.
1. Early stage: In this stage, the main focus is on braking to promote the swelling to subside and prevent tissue atrophy and adhesion. Elevation of the affected limb, immobilization of the upper and lower joints of the fracture site, active movement of the neighboring joints, and isometric contraction of the fracture site muscles can be carried out.
2. Mid-term: This period is mainly to promote fracture healing. Gradually start the joint activity of the fracture site and the surrounding muscle strength exercises. For example, the lower limbs can carry out straight leg raising and knee extension position knee joint force downward pressure training. Lower limb fracture patients can gradually start weight-bearing training, and gradually start walking training with the assistance of walking frames and other aids.
3. Late stage: focus on functional remodeling. Continue to increase joint mobility training, while increasing the intensity of muscle training, such as weight-bearing squatting exercises for the lower limbs, the use of quadriceps training chair for muscle training, etc., but also to increase the affected side of the limb proprioceptive training, such as the balance board on the interference exercises, up and down the stairs, obstacles across the practice.
Patients should not train blindly on their own, but should train scientifically under the guidance of a rehabilitation physician or therapist to avoid adverse consequences.
