The difference between Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s

Dementia is Alzheimer’s disease. The difference between Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease mainly lies in the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, treatment drugs and other aspects.
1. Pathogenesis: Parkinson’s disease, also known as tremor paralysis, is mainly caused by extrapyramidal dysfunction; Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative disease of the central system, mainly affecting the white matter of the brain.
2. Clinical manifestations: Parkinson’s disease is mainly characterized by resting tremor, muscle stiffness, motor retardation, etc.; Alzheimer’s disease is typically characterized by progressive cognitive impairment and memory loss.
3. Therapeutic drugs: Parkinson’s disease is mainly treated with levodopa, while Alzheimer’s disease is mainly treated with central acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (e.g. donepezil, galantamine, etc.).
Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease are both diseases of the central nervous system, and once diagnosed, they need to be treated immediately in order to slow down the progression of the disease and prolong the survival period.
