Can children eat maitake and ginseng?

Children can eat maitake and ginseng, but need to be standardized under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner.
Maitong enters the lung meridian to nourish lung yin and clear lung heat; it enters the stomach meridian to benefit the stomach, generate fluids and clear heat; and it enters the heart meridian to nourish heart yin, clear heart heat, and remove vexation and tranquilize the mind. It is used to treat dry cough with little phlegm due to yin deficiency (deficiency of yin and fluid in the body, resulting in dryness of the lungs not being nourished), gastric pain due to stomach yin deficiency and heat, and heartburn due to heart yin deficiency and heat, and insomnia and excessive dreaming.
Radix Codonopsis pilosulae is a good medicine for tonifying the middle Jiao (treating Qi deficiency by tonifying the spleen), which can tonify the spleen and benefit the lungs, treating tiredness and weakness, low voice and shortness of breath, etc. This medicine can tonify the qi and blood, replenish qi and promote the production of fluids, treating pallor, dizziness and weakness, and shortness of breath and thirst. This drug should not be used with veratrum.
The adverse reactions of the above drugs are not clear. Maidong is not suitable for people with deficiency and coldness in the spleen and stomach, loose food (thin and unformed feces), external wind-cold, phlegm-damp cough.
Patients are advised to seek prompt medical attention if they feel unwell. Children with special physical condition should take the medicine under the guidance of a medical professional, and should not use the medicine on their own to avoid risks.
