Do children with dwarfism have to take growth hormones?

Growth hormone is not mandatory for children with dwarfism. Growth hormone is usually recommended if it is caused by a growth hormone deficiency, but not if it is caused by other reasons. Growth hormone is usually recommended for children with dwarfism caused by growth hormone deficiency, and without growth hormone replacement therapy, height development can be impaired. In some cases, such as dwarfism caused by thyroid hormone deficiency, or delayed puberty, growth hormone is usually not needed. Growth hormone is also not recommended if the child’s bones are close to closing or if the child has chondrodysplasia. If a child is diagnosed with dwarfism, it is recommended that he or she seek medical attention to determine the cause of the disease and then undergo standardized treatment as soon as possible in order to minimize the adverse effects of the disease.
