High γ-glutamyltransferase is commonly seen in biliary obstructive diseases, viral hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis, fatty liver and other diseases.
Gamma-glutamyltransferase is mainly found in cell membranes and microsomes. Serum gamma-glutamyltransferase is mainly derived from the hepatobiliary system, and may be elevated when there are various reasons for hyper-synthesis in the liver or obstruction of bile excretion.
Patients with primary biliary cirrhosis, sclerosing cholangitis, hepatocellular carcinoma and other biliary tract obstructive diseases, due to bile duct obstruction, bile stagnation, and thus the serum γ-glutamyltransferase is significantly elevated. In addition, acute and chronic viral hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis, drug-induced hepatitis, fatty liver, pancreatitis and other diseases can also cause the index to show different degrees of elevation.
Therefore, caused by γ-glutamyltransferase elevation of more reasons, the patient should be timely hospital consultation, identify the cause of the disease, and timely give formal and effective treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
