What to do if you have a spinal fracture

The treatment of a spinal fracture varies depending on the severity of the fracture. If the spinal fracture is a compression fracture and the degree of compression is mild, within 1/3 of the entire vertebral body height, conservative treatment can be taken in the form of bed rest. After 1 month of bed rest, if the pain is significantly reduced, the spine can be moved with a spinal brace, and after 3 months the spine radiographs can be reviewed and the spinal brace can be removed if the fracture is confirmed to be clinically healed. If the compression fracture of the spine exceeds 1/3 of the vertebral body height or is a severe burst fracture, surgical treatment is required. The surgical treatment is usually a pedicle screw fixation brace repositioning local bone graft.
