How long does it take to drain a 5mm stone

A 5mm stone will take about 2-3 weeks to be discharged, depending on the hardness and shape of the stone as well as the thickness of the patient’s own ureter. In some patients, the ureter is relatively thin, and the possibility of the stone being discharged will be smaller or the time to be discharged will be longer. Generally speaking, a stone of 5mm is not a big stone, and a stone of less than 6mm may be discharged through the ureter. However, some people have a thin ureter, or have ureteral cysts, ureteral polyps, or ureteral stenosis, and even such a small stone may not be discharged. After three weeks, it is recommended that three urinary ultrasounds can be done to review the situation.
