A low risk Down’s syndrome screening result is a normal result and the baby can be born normally. If the result of Down’s syndrome screening shows moderate risk or high risk, it means that the fetus may be Down’s child, and further amniocentesis or non-invasive DNA test is needed to determine the specific situation of the fetus, because the accuracy of Down’s syndrome screening can only reach more than 65%, and the accuracy of non-invasive DNA test can reach more than 90%. Amniocentesis is the final result and the gold standard, but it is generally not recommended to do it directly because it is invasive and may lead to bacterial infection during the process of amniocentesis, which may affect the growth of the fetus or may cause miscarriage of the fetus. Therefore, in general, amniocentesis is recommended only when there is a problem with non-invasive DNA.
