According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), excessive sweating may be caused by lung problems, such as lung qi deficiency; it may also be caused by kidney yin deficiency or yang deficiency. However, the exact cause should be decided in conjunction with the patient’s other symptoms. 1. Lung qi deficiency: Lung qi deficiency may cause sweating, often accompanied by shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing and other symptoms. 2. Kidney yin deficiency: Kidney yin deficiency may be accompanied by sweating, often with symptoms such as heart-heat (heat in the hearts of the hands and feet, and self-consciousness of the heart and chest), hot flashes (bursts of heat), night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, but sweating stops after waking up), lumbar and knee pain, dizziness and tinnitus, insomnia and dreaming, spermatorrhea in men, and scanty menstruation and amenorrhea in women. 3. Yang deficiency: Patients with Yang deficiency will also experience symptoms of excessive sweating, often accompanied by pale or gray-black color, fear of cold, low temperature of hands and feet, mental fatigue, swelling and other symptoms. It is recommended that patients with excessive sweating seek medical attention to identify the cause of the problem and carry out targeted treatment.
