What is the effect of Cistanches with Citrus aurantium?

Cistanchiak Husk is used to regulate qi, laxative and so on. Cistanchis can tonify kidney yang, benefit essence and blood, moisten the intestines and laxative. It is used in treating deficiency of kidney yang (lack of yang energy in kidney), deficiency of essence and blood, impotence and infertility, lumbar and knee soreness (feeling of soreness and weakness in waist and knees), weakness of tendons and bones, and constipation with dryness of intestines and constipation. Citrus aurantium can regulate Qi and broaden the middle (regulating the Qi of the spleen and stomach), move stagnation and eliminate flatulence. It is used in treating stagnation of Qi in the chest and ribs (collectively referred to as the chest and rib area), distension and pain, food stagnation (accumulation of food in the stomach due to indigestion) which does not dissolve, phlegm and drink (pathological products of impaired metabolism of water and fluid) which are internally stagnant, and prolapse of organs. Therefore, Cistanches and Citrus aurantium together can have the effects of laxative, regulating qi and tonifying kidney yang; however, Citrus aurantium is strong in moving qi and should be used with caution in pregnant women. It is recommended to use the combination of drugs under the diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, and not to use the drugs arbitrarily, so as to avoid adverse consequences.
