Can thyroid disease be cured?

Timely treatment of thyroid disorders can be effectively cured, and clinically targeted treatment is required depending on the type of thyroid disorder. In the case of hyperthyroidism, patients need to rest and avoid stimulation while limiting the intake of iodized salt. Anti-thyroid medications, including thioureas and imidazoles, such as propylthiouracil and methimazole, are also needed to reduce the synthesis and release of thyroid hormones. The dosage can be reduced if the serum thyroid hormone reaches normal levels after using the medication. Surgical treatment, such as subtotal thyroidectomy, which leaves part of the thyroid gland on both sides, can also be used to cure the disease with a relatively low recurrence rate. For hypothyroidism, patients need to use levothyroxine in a timely manner, which can raise the thyroid level and thus prevent complications.
