Do pregnant women have to go for a glucose test?

It is not mandatory for pregnant women to do glucose tolerance, but it is recommended from the point of view of the safety of mother and child.
Generally pregnant women have to do glucose tolerance test at 24 to 28 weeks, and glucose tolerance test during pregnancy can detect early abnormalities of glucose metabolism and diagnose the presence of gestational diabetes mellitus.
Nowadays, the standard of living is improved, the chances of pregnant women suffering from gestational diabetes increased, and gestational diabetes for because gestational diabetes is more harmful to the mother and child, pregnant women with diabetes may induce ketoacidosis and other acute complications, and high blood glucose may lead to make the embryo develop abnormally, increase the rate of miscarriage and mortality rate, and at the same time the incidence of huge fetus will increase, resulting in difficult labor, higher probability of operation, and so on.
By doing glucose tolerance test during pregnancy can understand pregnant women’s blood glucose situation, early detection and control, it is generally recommended that pregnant women in the 24-28 weeks of pregnancy is necessary to do glucose tolerance test, and on time to do all the tests.
