Male ligation is a sterilization procedure that aims to cut off the male vas deferens and block the sperm transport pathway, so that the sperm produced by the testicles will not be ejected through the urethra to achieve the purpose of sterilization. This is a procedure that is applicable to our national conditions. Because male ligation is simpler than female ligation, male ligation was recommended in the past to reduce the side effects or harm caused by female ligation. However, male ligation has been largely eliminated because the widespread use of IUDs has made it possible to place the IUD into the woman’s uterus for a very safe and reliable contraceptive purpose. It is less risky, safe and reliable than the previous ligation procedure, so currently women use IUDs for contraception instead of male ligation.
