Differential diagnosis of squint suppression due to strabismic amblyopia

Strabismic amblyopia is due to strabismus cause diplopia and confusion, make the patient feel uncomfortable, the visual center will actively inhibit the macular visual impulses from the strabismic eye, the eye due to macular inhibition for a long period of time, which leads to amblyopia is called strabismic amblyopia. Strabismic amblyopia caused by squint suppression needs to be differentiated from refractive error, myopia and other ocular pathologies that cause similar symptoms: Strabismic amblyopia is characterized by: 1) the incidence of amblyopia in internal strabismus is higher than that in external strabismus; 2) the incidence of amblyopia in constant strabismus is higher than that in intermittent strabismus; and 3) the earlier the strabismus occurs and the longer the duration of the strabismus, the more profound is the amblyopia. Strabismus amblyopia, which usually occurs before the age of 3, is not easy to be cured; 4. Strabismus is the cause of amblyopia, and amblyopia is the result, which is functional and reversible. Early correction of strabismus is a key measure in the cure of amblyopia. Monocular strabismus is one of the main causes of amblyopia. Monocular constant strabismus, internal strabismus and horizontal strabismus are more likely to cause amblyopia than intermittent strabismus, external strabismus and vertical strabismus.
