The softness or hardness of the breast does not indicate whether the milk is sufficient or not. First of all, the capacity of each person’s breast is different, some people have very little breast capacity, that is, the amount of milk that can accumulate in the gland, and when only a little milk is secreted in the gland, the breast will immediately swell up and become hard. Some people have very soft breast glands that can hold more milk, and it is difficult for their breasts to swell up for a period of time, but they actually have more milk. Therefore, whether the breasts are soft or hard does not reflect the amount of milk, but whether there is enough milk is mainly determined by observing the baby’s reaction, looking at the number of swallows and bowel movements, and also by looking at the weight gain over time.
