Is it okay to keep smoking if you have lung nodules?

Smoking is not recommended for patients with pulmonary nodules; it is harmful.
Lung nodules are round or irregular shaped lesions in the lungs with a diameter of ≤30mm, and the imaging manifestation is a shadow of increased density, which may mainly be caused by lung infections, inflammatory lesions, benign and malignant tumors of the lungs. There are no obvious symptoms in most cases, and when the disease progresses, it may lead to cough, sputum, hemoptysis, fever, dyspnea and other symptoms.
As cigarettes contain harmful substances such as nicotine and tar, and produce carbon monoxide and many carcinogens when burned, they will harm the respiratory tract and lungs after being inhaled, and are a high-risk factor for the development of lung nodules and lung cancer, so patients with lung nodules are advised to quit smoking.
Lung nodule patients should actively seek medical treatment, quit smoking as soon as possible, and under the guidance of the doctor for standardized diagnosis and treatment. Daily diet should be light and nutritious, keep the indoor air fresh, regular work and rest, do not stay up late, and exercise properly to improve physical fitness.
