What’s wrong with recurring fevers after liver resection?

Repeated fever after hepatectomy is considered to be caused by postoperative absorptive fever, postoperative infection, lung infection, infection in other parts of the body. 1. Postoperative absorption fever: after hepatectomy, as the body itself absorbs the local fluid or blood, it will produce aseptic inflammatory reaction, which will cause the hypothalamus thermoregulation center’s regulating point to move upward, resulting in recurrent fever. Postoperative absorption of fever generally body temperature does not exceed 38.5 ℃, fever time is generally not more than 3 days. 2. Postoperative infection: improper sterilization or operation of hepatectomy and lack of attention to postoperative hygiene may cause postoperative infection, such as surgical incision infection, abdominal cavity infection, etc., which can cause recurrent fever. 3. Lung infection: after hepatectomy, due to the bedridden time is relatively long, or suffering from chronic lung disease, it is easy to increase the chance of lung infection. It is often accompanied by recurring fever, coughing and difficulty in breathing. 4. Infections in other parts of the body: Hepatic resection surgery can cause urinary tract infection due to inserting catheter, lying in bed, etc., or phlebitis of lower limbs caused by getting out of bed late, etc. can cause recurrent fever. 5. Poor drainage from the drainage tube: also caused by wound infection, it is recommended to clarify the source of infection and use antibiotics reasonably under the advice of the doctor. Repeated fever after hepatectomy needs to go to the hospital in time to check the specific cause and treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
