Lung nodule ≤5mm serious or not

Nodules ≤5 mm in the lungs have a relatively small risk of malignancy and are usually not serious, but should be followed up regularly under the supervision of a doctor.
Lung nodules are categorized into micronodules, pulmonary nodules, and pulmonary nodules according to their size. Among them, a diameter of <5mm is called a micronodule, a diameter of 5mm-10mm is called a pulmonary nodule, and a diameter of 11mm-30mm is called a pulmonary nodule. Lung 5mm nodule is relatively small, malignant risk is low, the larger the nodule, the higher the risk of malignancy.
Patients with lung nodules ≤5mm are recommended to have regular chest CT examination every year; if the edge of the lung nodule has features such as burr, lobulation and pleural pulling, or if it shows progressive growth, then it is a high-risk lung nodule, which needs to be closely followed up or surgically resected to clarify the pathology according to the specific situation under the guidance of the doctor.
Therefore, patients with lung nodules ≤5mm must go to the hospital regularly for review.
