Conjunctival lacerations in the eye usually heal in about a week.
When the eye is traumatized, the surface conjunctival tissue may be torn, resulting in a conjunctival laceration, which can lead to symptoms such as eye redness, eye pain, and a foreign body sensation in the eye.
A simple conjunctival laceration usually does not affect the patient’s vision, but it also requires timely treatment to promote its recovery. Smaller conjunctival lacerations can be treated with medications to promote repair, commonly used are recombinant human epidermal growth factor drops, recombinant bovine alkaline fibroblast growth factor drops and so on.
For larger conjunctival lacerations, surgery is required to close the laceration, followed by the use of the aforementioned medications to promote healing; as the conjunctival tissue has a relatively strong healing ability, it can generally heal gradually in about a week after the injury.
If you experience any eye discomfort, you should consult an ophthalmologist at the hospital.
