What to look for to detect rhinitis

Rhinitis can be categorized into many kinds, such as acute rhinitis, chronic rhinitis, drug-induced rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, etc. Commonly used examinations include physical examination, nasal endoscopy, nasal function examination, nasal cytology examination, immunological examination and so on.
1. Physical examination: Observe whether there is any structural abnormality in the nose, the mucous membrane of the nose, the size of the nasal turbinate, the secretion in the nasal cavity and whether there is any neoplasm.
2. Nasal endoscopy: it can visualize the nasal mucosa, nasal structure, secretion, neoplasm and nasopharynx.
3. Nasal ventilation function examination: such as nasal manometry, nasal acoustic reflex measurement, etc., can determine the degree of nasal ventilation, nasal resistance, nasal airway narrowing position, etc., in order to judge the condition and determine the treatment policy.
4. Nasal cytology examination: such as nasal secretion smear, nasal mucosa scraping examination, etc. More eosinophils can be seen in the acute exacerbation period of allergic rhinitis patients.
5. Immunological examination: such as skin prick test, serum specific IgE examination, etc., can distinguish allergic rhinitis or non-allergic rhinitis.
When the symptoms of nasal discomfort occur, it is recommended to go to the ear, nose and throat department of the hospital in a timely manner, and follow the doctor’s instructions for examination and treatment.
