Progesterone generally refers to progesterone capsules, which can be stopped at 11 weeks of pregnancy under normal circumstances.
Progesterone capsules can be used to treat preeclampsia and habitual abortion. Pregnant women take progesterone capsules generally due to low progesterone, in order to avoid the symptoms of preeclampsia, luteal insufficiency, fetal growth retardation and other symptoms caused by low progesterone.
During pregnancy, the ovaries of pregnant women are slightly enlarged, and the corpus luteum of pregnancy is usually visible on one side of the ovary. Progesterone is mainly produced by the corpus luteum, which synthesizes estrogen and progesterone to maintain the continuation of pregnancy. The function of the corpus luteum is replaced by the placenta after 10 weeks of pregnancy, therefore progesterone capsules can be stopped at 11 weeks of pregnancy under normal circumstances.
Pregnant women should only use progesterone capsules with a doctor’s consent, and it is recommended that you consult your physician and follow your doctor’s instructions for specific medications.
