Discomfort under both ribs is considered to have the following two diseases: first, costochondritis, and second, intercostal neuralgia. There is a nerve under each rib called the intercostal nerve, which causes pain in the ribs when stimulated by external forces or cold, and this cause is intercostal neuralgia. Costochondritis is due to sterile inflammatory irritation, which also results in discomfort under the ribs on both sides. In addition to that, we need to exclude pleural and hepatobiliary diseases. We need to go to the hospital to check the orthopantomogram of the chest to see if there is pleurisy or lung disease, and to check the ultrasound of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen to see if there is also a problem with the liver and gallbladder. Except for these two diseases, the diagnosis is basically intercostal neuralgia or chondromalacia.
