What to do if a child’s fever does not go away

If a child’s fever does not go down, if the body temperature exceeds 38.5℃, the child can be given ibuprofen suspension for cooling treatment, and then assisted with physical cooling methods to help lower the child’s body temperature, such as a full-body warm water bath, focusing on wiping the neck, underarms, groin and other large blood vessels flowing through the area. If your child’s temperature does not come down after taking antipyretic drugs and physical cooling, or rises again after it has come down, you can give your child another dose of ibuprofen suspension after 6-8 hours, but not more than four times within 24 hours. At the same time, give your child small amounts of warm boiled water several times to lower the temperature by promoting sweating. If the child’s fever does not go down for more than three days, parents are advised to take the child to the hospital to investigate the cause of the fever, do relevant tests, such as blood routine, blood culture, etc., give targeted medication and actively treat the original disease in order to completely improve the child’s fever symptoms and promote recovery of body temperature.
