After being scalded by steam, you can use cold water to rinse the affected area repeatedly, as well as medication to disinfect and treat it. 1. Cold water rinsing: The affected area of the scald is rinsed with a stream of water for 20~30 minutes to prevent heat from further damaging the wound and to reduce pain, edema and other discomforts. 2. Local disinfection: After rinsing with cold water, disinfect the wound with iodine to keep it dry and clean. 3. Medication: After cleaning and disinfecting the steam burn, apply trauma cream locally. If the scalded area is more intense, you can take oral ibuprofen and other painkillers; if the affected area appears to be ulcerated, erosion symptoms, you can take oral amoxicillin and other anti-inflammatory drugs.
