What does posterior uterus mean?

Posterior uterus means that the uterus is posteriorly tilted, a state of position in the pelvis, not a disease. The uterus is situated deep in the pelvic cavity, connected outwardly with the vagina, and is flanked on each side by the fallopian tubes and ovaries, the position of the uterus being due to its ligaments. The uterus in general is suspended in the center of the abdominal cavity by five ligaments, and there are different cases of it being tilted forward, in the middle, and behind, so that the uterus will be in an anterior, posterior, and horizontal position. Generally, posterior uterine position is when the body of the uterus is tilted backward, which is a normal uterine position and is innate. The position of the uterus cannot be adjusted in a normal person unless surgical correction is performed. Posterior uterine position is normal and does not require surgical correction.
