When the elderly present with heavy uterine prolapse, or severe uterine prolapse, surgery is indicated if the patient can tolerate it, but if the patient cannot, uterine support may be used. Surgery is usually required when the elderly present with severe uterine prolapse. Surgery can be performed in a variety of ways. For patients who can tolerate surgery, they can be treated with pelvic floor reconstruction, which involves immobilizing the uterosacral ligaments with a sling and mesh to restore the prolapsed uterus to its normal position, or they can be treated with direct removal of the uterus. However, if the patient has other diseases such as severe high blood pressure which makes the patient unable to tolerate the surgery, then the patient can choose to be treated with an upper uterine support to return the prolapsed uterus to its normal position, which can be worn during the daytime and taken out at night, and then stopped after the symptoms have been relieved. It is recommended that once an elderly person is found to have severe uterine prolapse, he or she should be taken to a doctor to complete the relevant examinations and standardize the treatment.
