What’s wrong with the pain in the left side of the abdomen?

Pain in the left lower abdomen may be caused by urinary stones. Small stones can cause pain in the left lower abdomen and blood in the urine during the process of stone removal along the ureter and bladder. Large stones can become lodged in the ureter and cause significant pain with colic, nausea, vomiting, etc. Urological ultrasound can be performed to further clarify. If a stone is identified inside the ureter, external lithotripsy or ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy is required. Ureteroscopic Holmium laser lithotripsy is routinely performed under general anesthesia, and a double J tube is placed in the ureter after the procedure for patency drainage.
