Can frequent chronic migraines cause strokes?

Will frequent long-term migraine headaches cause stroke? The relationship between migraine and stroke is still somewhat controversial in academic circles. For the common type of migraine, there is no increased risk of stroke, but migraine patients with frequent attacks of visual aura have an increased risk of stroke. Some studies have shown that migraine attacks that directly lead to stroke, mostly in migraine patients with aura, have a 1.91-fold increased risk of stroke compared to normals. Therefore, migraine patients with visual aura should take active treatment measures to prevent stroke from occurring.
