Cigu, also known as Cizitake Mushroom and White Earth Chestnut, has the effects of promoting blood circulation and cooling the blood, relieving coughs and gonorrhea, and dispersing knots and removing toxins.
Cigu is the bulb of the genus Cigu in the family of Zeliaceae, which is called Cigu Mushroom in the Treatise on Medicinal Properties and White Chestnut in the Herbal Picture Book. Its flavor is sour, salty and flat, and it belongs to the heart, liver and lung meridians. It has the efficacy of promoting blood circulation and cooling the blood, relieving coughs and gonorrhea, and dispersing knots and removing toxins.
It is also used in the treatment of postpartum blood congestion, failure to keep the fetus clot in the womb, subluxation of the belt, metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling), epistaxis, vomiting of blood, coughing of phlegm and blood, gonorrhea, sores and swellings, redness and swelling of the eyes, leucoma of the cornea, scrofula (mainly refers to tuberculosis of the lymph nodes in the neck), testicular inflammation, osteomyelitis, and venomous snake bites.
The adverse effects of the drug are not clear. Use with caution in pregnant women. If there is a need to use this medicine, it is recommended to use it under the guidance of a professional physician, not blindly self-medication.
