Can enhancement ct detect sclerosing cholangitis?

Enhanced CT can be used to detect sclerosing cholangitis, but is not routinely used as a screening tool; it is used to stage the disease and to identify it. Sclerosing cholangitis is a disease characterized by narrowing of the bile ducts and liver disease, which may be asymptomatic or may present with bleeding, ascites, fever, chills, abdominal pain in the liver area, and jaundice. Imaging tools for this include abdominal ultrasound, abdominal CT or enhanced CT, and magnetic resonance pancreaticobiliary imaging. Therefore, enhanced CT can be used for the examination of this disease. Abdominal CT or enhanced CT is not a routine means of diagnosis of this disease, and is mainly used for differential diagnosis of patients with suspected cholangiocarcinoma and staging of cholangiocarcinoma. Routine screening for this disease is mainly based on abdominal ultrasound. If sclerosing cholangitis is suspected, it is recommended to go to the hospital promptly.
