The 5-valent oral rotavirus vaccine can be used to prevent gastroenteritis in infants and young children caused by infection with five serotypes of rotaviruses: G1, G2, G3, G4 and G9. The 5-valent oral rotavirus vaccine, also known as oral 5-valent reassortant live attenuated rotavirus vaccine, is obtained by culturing five reassortant strains of human-bovine rotavirus in Vero cells. The vaccine can prevent gastroenteritis in infants and young children due to infection with rotaviruses of serotypes G1, G2, G3, G4, and G9 after oral administration. It should be noted that the vaccine is strictly contraindicated in infants and children who are allergic to the components of the vaccine, during the exacerbation of acute and chronic diseases, immunodeficiency, immunocompromised, or have a previous history of intussusception. Common adverse reactions after oral administration of 5-valent oral rotavirus vaccine include mild fever and vomiting, which are normal and usually subside on their own.
