The cause of immune thrombocytopenia is unknown, and it is mainly related to autoimmune function abnormality.
Immune thrombocytopenia is mainly caused by the abnormal function of the immune system, which attacks its own platelets, resulting in platelet destruction, and is often triggered by pregnancy, vaccination, medication, acute and chronic infections, and autoimmune diseases. The main manifestations are subcutaneous and mucous membrane bleeding, nosebleed, menorrhagia, etc. Even gastrointestinal and brain bleeding, which is life-threatening.
Immune thrombocytopenia is treated differently according to the level of platelet count. If the platelet count drops slightly and there is no bleeding symptom, no treatment is usually needed; if the platelet count drops significantly and there is a tendency to bleed, it needs to be treated with methylprednisolone, gammaglobulin, platelet transfusion, and so on.
Therefore, if the diagnosis of immune thrombocytopenia patients, it is recommended to actively follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment to avoid adverse consequences. Drugs need to be used under medical supervision.
