Dried yam generally refers to Chinese yam, which is known to benefit qi and nourish yin, tonify the spleen, lungs and kidneys. If the indications do not exist, it is not recommended that children drink dried yam boiled water every day.
Yam is the rhizome of the plant Dioscorea spp. of the family Dioscoreaceae, with a sweet flavor and a flat nature; it belongs to the spleen, lung and kidney meridians. It has the efficacy of benefiting qi and nourishing yin, tonifying the spleen, lungs and kidneys, fixing essence and stopping the belt.
It can be used for treating spleen deficiency with little food, tiredness and fatigue, loose stools, lung deficiency with asthma and cough, kidney deficiency with spermatorrhea, dysuria, internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied by eating, drinking and urinating). Adverse effects are not clear. It should be noted that it is forbidden to be taken by those who have dampness, fullness in the middle, or have solid evil or stagnation.
