What is the method of breast palpation

Breast palpation is performed by pressing the breasts with all four fingers together and from all directions.

Breast palpation involves the use of the index, middle and ring fingers of the hand to gently glide over the breast, palpating the upper outer quadrant of one breast, then the lower outer quadrant, then the lower inner quadrant and the upper inner quadrant, and finally gently squeezing the nipple before palpating the other breast. If there is no spillage from the nipple after squeezing, breast palpation is complete.

Note that the examination should be performed around the 10th day of the menstrual cycle, when hormonal changes in the body have little effect on the breasts. It should also be noted that breast palpation can only initially determine the resectability of the lump, but the accuracy of palpation is still limited, so it still needs to be paired with imaging and pathology tests, only in this way can the accuracy of the results be guaranteed.

It is recommended that once there is any discomfort in the breast, you should consult a doctor and actively cooperate with the doctor to avoid delaying the condition.
