What are the causes of glucocorticoid-dependent dermatitis of the face

In recent years, the incidence of glucocorticoid-dependent dermatitis (hereinafter referred to as “hormone-dependent dermatitis”) is high due to the widespread and irregular topical application of glucocorticoid preparations, especially hormone-dependent dermatitis occurring on the face is on the increase year by year. So, what are the manifestations of “facial hormone dependent dermatitis”? This dermatitis can occur at any age, but it is more common in young and middle-aged women. It usually occurs after the long-term topical use of hormone preparations, with erythema, papules, edema (a few can be pustules), some appearing flaking, skin thinning, capillary dilation (red blood) and other changes; patients often feel a burning sensation, tightness, itching and pain on the face; the symptoms are aggravated after the skin is exposed to heat (sunlight or bathing sauna, etc.), or after the use of detergents; often after the reuse of the same type of hormone preparations or more potent hormone preparations. The symptoms can be alleviated or temporarily relieved after reapplying the same type of hormone preparations or stronger hormones; after stopping the use of hormone preparations, the symptoms will recur and even become more serious! This is the general manifestation of “facial hormone dependent dermatitis”. So, how does “facial hormone dependent dermatitis” arise? This disease is inseparable from people’s “misuse”, “abuse” and “dependence” on hormones. Some young and middle-aged women have no underlying skin disease, but they mistakenly use hormone-containing preparations for beauty and skin rejuvenation, and over time, the above-mentioned manifestations appear. Then there is a part of patients who do not go to the specialist after their skin problems, but go to the pharmacy to buy the medicine by themselves. They do not have much knowledge about hormones and lack basic understanding of the efficacy and adverse effects of hormones, and some of them are not sure that what they are using is hormones, and some even use hormones as “cosmetics” all year round, resulting in the abuse of hormones. Some of them are aware of the adverse effects of hormone preparations, but they often have developed a terrible dependence on hormones and have to continue applying hormones in order to control the “rebound” of the disease. These are some of the causes of “facial hormone dependent dermatitis”.
