What is cancer fever?

Cancer fever refers to non-infectious fever directly related to cancer in patients with cancer when infection and antibiotic treatment are excluded and ineffective, as well as fever caused by treatment of patients in the process of tumor development. At present, it is thought to be related to the following factors: First, the malignant tumor grows too fast, caused by relative ischemia, hypoxia and necrosis of tissues. Secondly, treatment causes a large number of tumor cells destruction and release of tumor necrosis factor, which leads to collective fever. Thirdly, malignant tumor cells themselves can produce endogenous pyrogenic sources, such as inflammatory reaction caused by leukocyte infiltration in tumor, and release of antigenic substances in malignant tumor cells, so developing immune reaction. Then another tumor cells can secrete active substances, such as 5-hydroxytryptamine, catechol, methemoglobin, etc., all of which produce different responses to the organism. Another one in the process of tumor treatment, radiotherapy chemotherapy, application of agents such as interferon, interleukin, colony stimulating factor can also cause fever.
