Common causes of high low blood pressure include good arterial elasticity, increased peripheral vascular resistance, and increased heart rate. Low pressure is diastolic pressure, which is the pressure generated by the elastic retraction of the large blood vessels connected to the heart when the heart is diastolic. Higher diastolic blood pressure is more common in young hypertensive patients for the following three reasons: 1. Good arterial elasticity: the better the arterial elasticity, the greater the elastic retraction force produced by the arteries when the heart is in diastole, therefore, high diastolic blood pressure is mostly seen in young and middle-aged people, and the diastolic blood pressure of elderly patients with hypertension is lower due to hardening of the arteries and less elasticity. 2. Increased peripheral vascular resistance: Increased peripheral vascular resistance will make the heart pump less blood, and there is still more blood in the blood vessels during diastole, which will eventually lead to higher diastolic blood pressure. Mostly seen in obesity, alcoholism, nervousness, lack of sleep and mental stress. 3. Increased heart rate: the faster the heart rate, the shorter the interval between two heartbeats, the more blood remains in the aorta during diastole, which ultimately leads to increased diastolic blood pressure, and increased heart rate is more common in people with higher stress, mental tension and lack of sleep. For patients with high diastolic blood pressure, they should eat a low-salt diet, maintain a good routine and mood, and take antihypertensive medication as prescribed by their doctor.
