Traditional Chinese medicines for the treatment of hyperlipidemia include Cassia Lipid-lowering Tablets and Lipotropic Capsules. The main ingredients of Cassia Lipid-lowering Tablets are cassia seed, Herba Leonurus, Polygonum multiflorum and Sangzhi. The adverse reactions and contraindications of this drug are not clear. Lipids Kang Capsules is composed of red yeast, which has the efficacy of resolving turbidity and lowering fat (clearing the body of impurities and reducing excess fat), activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis, invigorating the spleen and eliminating food. It is used for hyperlipidemia caused by phlegm obstruction and blood stasis, symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, dizziness, headache, chest tightness, abdominal distension, poor appetite and dullness (lack of appetite, reduced food intake). Lipocere capsule is not recommended for pregnant women and lactating mothers. It is contraindicated in those who are allergic to the product, have active hepatitis or unexplained elevated serum aminotransferases. Common adverse reactions are gastrointestinal disturbances such as stomach pain, bloating, and heartburn. Blood lipids, serum aminotransferase and creatine phosphokinase should be checked regularly during the medication period; monitoring of liver function is particularly important for those with a history of liver disease taking this product. The drug should be used under the supervision of a physician to avoid adverse effects.
