Is minimally invasive surgery an option for varicose veins?

Varicose vein surgery is available as a minimally invasive treatment option or as a traditional option with open surgery. The traditional open surgery is performed with high saphenous vein ligation plus segmental stripping of the varicose veins. Minimally invasive surgical treatment includes interventional foam sclerotherapy, laser endoluminal sclerotherapy, and minimally invasive ultrasound spinotomy. Interventional foam sclerotherapy is an interventional method that uses a foam sclerosing agent to embolize large varicose veins to achieve a therapeutic effect, while laser treatment uses a laser to irradiate the inner wall of the varicose saphenous vein to occlude the saphenous vein. These three minimally invasive procedures for varicose veins are the most commonly performed, and basically no surgical scars are visible.
