The main difference between fundal gland polyps and gastric body gland polyps is the location and cause of the polyp. Fundic gland polyps are benign elevated lesions that grow in the fundus of the stomach, originate in the gastric mucosa, and protrude into the lumen of the stomach. The cause is not clear, but it may be related to Helicobacter pylori infection, genetic factors, bile reflux, chronic inflammation, functional dyspepsia, and so on. Gastric body gland polyp is a pathologic type of proliferative polyp that grows in the stomach. Gastric body gland polyp is mainly related to irregular diet in general, and it may also be caused by diseases of the stomach itself, or caused by bad habits such as smoking and drinking. Both fundal gland polyps and gastric body gland polyps are seldom cancerous, but there is a possibility of cancer, so it is necessary to review regularly. Patients are advised to seek timely medical attention and take appropriate treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
